Carnival Magic

Carnival Magic was built by Fincantieri, at its Monfalcone shipyard in Italy. Debuting August 2010, weighing 128,500 tons, with a crew size of 1,367 and total passengers of 3,690. The Magic was renovated in February 2016 for Fun Ship 2.0 features, added signature dining venues, Guy Fieri burgers, new Bars and Entertainment. Sailings include Eastern, Western and Southern Caribbean. I personally went on the Eastern Caribbean on this cruise. Overall this cruise was very clean, recently renovated when I traveled. The food was pretty good and enjoyable throughout the cruise. The customer service was excellent, from dining, to the front desk, to the entertainment/ onboard activities, and you can never forget your room attendants. The best time for this cruise will be from October- May anywhere in the Caribbean.

After an enjoyable 7-day vacation, I am glad to recommend the Carnival Magic. The staff went above and beyond here from making sure our drinks were always refilled, removing plates when needed, and serving everyone in my party in a timely matter. Being renovated only a couple of months prior to set sailing, I was impressed with the overall cleanliness of the ship. Fantastic water slides, great activities for the family, and endless entertainment made this a memorable vacation. With an overall positive experience, I look forward to traveling on the Carnival Magic again.

While I had a better experience on the Carnival Magic, I can’t say the same for the Liberty. This ship had more then enough amenities that my party was able to enjoy and not get tired of while on a short vacation. As for the dining experience, let’s just say I was very disappointed. The staff failed to clear dirty dishes from the table and failed to remove extra plate settings 100% of the time. The food was undercooked and cold for every meal. While you could assume that it was the staff that contributed to the poor service in the dining locations, even the staff at customer service was not tentative one bit. I will continue to try other ships in the fleet, especially since I didn’t face these same issues on the Carnival Magic, but I will not be recommending the Liberty as of right now.
